When all the settings are set for bare floors, the rubber ring around the bottom of the unit gets sucked to the floor and you... Super vacuum for sweeping up my pet birds and dogs droppings, works great on wood floors and carpet too! See "Patti's" review also. Mine did exactly the same thing. On my low pile rug, this vacuum would not pick up any hair and then all of a sudden it would have great suction...
