This a a decent microscope for the money. It is perfect for the kids to use. It is much heavier than a toy one. Excellent. .. One star because there was not a single piece of paper when I unpacked it. Nothing. The scope itself looks possibly used and I can't get a glass slide to pick up anything. We bought this for our eight year old grand daughter and I think it inspired her tremendously. Good microscope for home use with school projects etc. Sturdy and easy to use Just using this to view micro life around here...pond, house, dog bowl (yech) and the various powers, light settings and apertures are just what was needed. I bought it for my little sister, and she absolutely loves it. I got pre made slides as well as some blank ones and she has a great time playing with it. I had bought a cheaper microscope and it was useless. This is much better. It has a nice feel and good power for the price. I'm glad I got it
